Today was the first run on my quest to run a marathon. I got a garmin 305 for Christmas and it is the coolest gift I have ever recieved! The 12 inches of snow fianlly melted and the sidewalks were runnable. Lucy and I set out on our first run since before Thanksgiving. I was hoping to be able to run 3 miles under 36min. (I guess that is considered jogging)
I have a training plan for the upcoming year. It includes four runs per week.
Mon. night ........interval training/speed drills
Tues night.........hills
Thurs night.......group run at Fit Right
Sat morn............long run (group training runs start april 4)
I also plan to include 2 strength training sessions per week at the gym.
I have signed up for one race so far......Shamrock 8K March 15th
I have a few others that I want to sign up for if I have the money
Bridge to Bridge 8K
Doggy Dash (with Lucy)
I will run the Lacamas 1/2 marathon on July 26th (13.1 miles) and
the PDX Marathon on Oct 4th (26.2 miles)
I am a really slow runner right now, but I hope to run under a 10 min mile for the 1/2 marathon.
My first run tonight was slow 3.06mi/36.58min.
My ankles felt week...will concentrate on yoga for strengthening feet and ankles.
